Madison felt disoriented and out of place, surrounded by unfamiliar surroundings, with only her daughter by her side. Bethany's priority was trying to connect to the WIFI, so she paid little attention to everything around her. The man who had been their protector had left to rendezvous with a possible ally. Even though she was a novice in the world of espionage and military operations, an intuition warned her that Logan's next move was leading him straight into a trap. Recent experiences had taught her that he was a man who took precautions and wouldn't easily walk into an ambush - he would probably arrive earlier than expected. With vigilance, he'd meticulously examine the area, keeping a watchful eye out for potential threats, all in an effort to safeguard himself from capture or harm by the enemy. Still, there was a nagging sense of wrongness in the air.

Unable to resist her inquisitive nature, she found herself snooping around the house as she wandered aimlessly. Despite her curiosity, there wasn't much to learn about the man who had saved her in the sparsely decorated house. The rooms lacked any personal belongings or signs that he was the owner or had stayed there before. No pictures of his wife or kids.

As she pondered the question that consumed her mind, she realised that she might have fallen for a man who could potentially leave once everything was resolved. Despite her growing affection for him, she pushed aside those feelings as desperation, unwilling to admit them to him or Bethany. Having someone who showed her attention and affection, she knew she couldn't resist acting on her desires. The image of her dad's face and his wise words filled her mind, bringing back a cherished memory.

“Never fall for a man. Unless you know he is a good man, be able to protect you, provide for you and above everything, truly love you. I never want to see my daughter with a broken heart. You deserve happiness and that is all I ever wish for you.” Geoffrey said.

Bethany's face told a story of pure frustration as she made her way towards her mother. Not only were they in a house they had never visited before, they were forced to hide from relentless enemies, whose motives remained a mystery to her. As if things couldn't get any worse, the absence of WIFI was a cruel blow.

“I can’t connect to any of the networks around here. All of them require pass-codes. This is stupid! What am I supposed to do? He might not come back for ages, there’s no tv, which is ridiculous. Who doesn’t watch tele?” She moaned.

It was hard to argue with her daughter's point. Madison was well aware that the house offered no sense of belonging for Logan; it merely functioned as a temporary sanctuary in times of danger. From what he said about the place, it was definitely safe. She hoped it was. The
